2008 Paradise Empowers Charity Golf Tournament June 4, 2008 was a great day for Paradise Empowers as the inaugural golf tournament held at the beautiful Lake Spivey Golf Club was a tremendous success. Following the tournament and lunch were awards presentations to first, second and third place teams, the $1000.00 winner of the putting contest, as well as closest to the hole and longest drive. Also recognized were our three ‘gold’ sponsors – Wachovia, BB&T and Network Doctors who allowed our vision of the tournament to expand greatly. PEI, Inc., PEI Logistics, and Premier Expediters, Inc. (founding sponsors of Paradise Empowers), spearheaded the tournament. We were elated to see others in the community jump on board as sponsors for this event, to support the youth in our communities. We are very grateful to our generous raffle sponsors who helped send our golfers home with a little something extra at the end of the day, and are most thankful for the generous donations and enthusiastic participation which allows us to announce a donation of $8,600.00 to Paradise Empowers. On August 18, 2008 Paradse Empowers, Inc. will present a check before the Henry County Board of Commissioners in the amount of $4,000.00 to Sandra Reagen, Director of the Henry County Family Concepts Program. This is a highly successful program that focuses on assisting troubled youth and their families with getting back on track and functioning as a family unit. The balance of funds raised from the golf tournament will be utilized for, among other things, a new after school learn to earn program for disadvantaged youth that is currently under development. Many, many thanks to all who participated! We look forward to building this event in future years with the goal of making an increasingly larger impact on our community through Paradise Empowers. Paradise Empowers is a publicly funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that attends to the individual needs of at-risk youth and their families – providing both financial backing and individual volunteers – to enable kids to take part in academic, cultural and social programs both inside and outside of the classroom, that fulfill a variety of requirements and desires.
